ABOUT
Meet Phoebe
Phoebe founded Play College Field Hockey in 2018 to help athletes get to the next level. As a former college coach, she knows exactly what coaches are looking for in a student-athlete.
Phoebe served for three years as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Slippery Rock University, a NCAA Division II University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. At SRU, Phoebe was heavily involved with the recruitment of student-athletes. She was the primary contact person for all interested field hockey players; she evaluated hundreds of athletes and assisted the head coach with scholarship and roster spot decisions. Phoebe's role at Slippery Rock, as well as her previous experience as the head coach of Daniel Webster College (2012, 2013) has helped her develop into an expert in the college recruiting process.
Phoebe is an alumna of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Along with her coaching experience, Phoebe has an impressive playing resume. She was a four year starter at Smith College where her name still lingers in the record books for all-time points, goals, and shots on goal. She has traveled around the world to play competitive hockey with a year long stint in Brisbane, Australia on the Queensland University of Technology Hockey Club's Women's Division I team (2014) and a pair of three month stints in Dublin, Ireland with Old Alexandra Hockey Club's Division I and II teams (2015, 2018). Phoebe’s most recent international hockey trip was to Buenos Aires, Argentina in August of 2018.
Phoebe's field hockey knowledge and her collegiate coaching experience puts her in a unique position to help you with the recruiting process. Don't let contacting coaches, deciding which camps and tournaments to attend, or even narrowing down your search from the 285+ colleges and universities with NCAA varsity field hockey programs overwhelm you. Phoebe is here to help you with each step along the way.
Meet Julia
Julia Kim brings a unique perspective to Play College Field Hockey with first-hand experience competing at both the NCAA Division I and Division III levels.
Julia began her collegiate playing career at SUNY Albany, a top-20 Division I program, before transferring to SUNY Geneseo, where she earned her B.S. in Childhood and Special Education with a concentration in Mathematics.
During her career at SUNY Geneseo, Julia earned two All-American honors, was twice named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, and was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection. A two-year team captain, she led the Knights to a SUNYAC championship in her senior season, achieving a program-best 19–3 record and the team’s first NCAA second round appearance. In recognition of her impact, she was named to the SUNYAC All-Decade Team in 2021.
After a standout career at Geneseo, Julia continued her playing career in Zaragoza, Spain, with Honig Vogel, where she trained alongside top international athletes and gained a global perspective on the game. Her time abroad sharpened her technical and tactical knowledge while deepening her understanding of player development. She later returned to Geneseo as an assistant coach, contributing to recruiting and scouting efforts across New York. Beyond the collegiate level, Julia has coached with Hudson Valley Field Hockey Club and Empire United Field Hockey Club, helping athletes grow both on and off the field.
Her background as both a special educator and a language assistant in Spain has shaped her ability to connect with athletes from diverse backgrounds, recognize potential, and create supportive environments that allow players to thrive. With her deep recruiting knowledge, cross-cultural experience, and passion for helping athletes find the right collegiate fit, Julia is dedicated to guiding PCFH families through every step of the recruiting process.
